Did you know that there are around 278,000 weddings each year in the UK and 29,500 of these are in the South East where I am based. In 2022 there were over 1 million weddings in the pipeline with the average number of wedding guests at 100/120. Post Covid, micro weddings have become far more popular with just family and close friends. Couples are opting for a smaller intimate ceremony and reception and having another party for extended family and friends at a later date.

Venues have changed too, with many couples opting for a restaurant style setting, a smaller barn or country premises. Rural locations are definitely on the up as the laws are changing, enabling weddings to be held in many different locations. Weddings are adapting with the times and more intimate weddings are a cost effective option with less pressure on finances.

The UK wedding business will generate in the region of 28 billion pounds in the next two years. In 2023, we will see the average number of guests fall to 70 and often up to 60% of the wedding still being covered by the bank of Mum & Dad. As the cost of living increases, decisions have to be made regarding budgets to ensure no overspend. Just under 48% of couples overspend and end up in debt for year's afterwards, this is not something I would recommend. There are many ways to cut your cloth and achieve the same results, and that is where I can help.

August still continues to be the favourite month for weddings in the UK, but more and more couples are now choosing to move towards Autumn and Winter weddings as our Seasons are changing. We are having more beautiful Autumn days and bright crisp Winter ones. I am also seeing a move towards far more midweek weddings which are traditionally cheaper, but venues are still charging a substantial hire fee.If you can plan ahead and book a Bank Holiday weekend, it extends your wedding weekend and will help both you and your guests in terms of taking another day off work , and gives you more time to get organised pre and post wedding. I have plenty more tips on choosing the right venue and day for you.

The average cost of a wedding in 2023 is £25,000 and you will spend roughly 10% plus of your budget in the planning. Hiring a Wedding Coordinator will certainly save you money, time and stress as you tap into existing suppliers and resources without starting from scratch. It will also help avoid some common pitfalls, as I work closely with teams of local and reliable suppliers who are cost effective and flexible.

Do not under estimate the number of hours you will spend on decision making between with your wedding planner, start early and enjoy the process, as this should be the happiest day of your life!
